Arsenal’s former player Johan Djourou has encouraged the club’s fans to show logical patience on Mikel Arteta.
The Arsenal faithful somewhat overreacted to the club’s two preseason friendly results in the past week, a 2-1 loss to Hibernia and a 2-2 draw with Rangers.
While the club continues a crucial rebuild that began with former coach Unai Emery after Arsene Wenger, fans have been too agitated when patience and perspective have been needed.
“I think that’s always a question of time,” said the club’s former footballer Djourou on TalkSPORT.
“Now, with Arsenal and with others, we are in a situation where we want a quick fix or a quick transition and sometimes, it takes more time.
“Look at [Jurgen] Klopp and Pep [Guardiola], they haven’t had success straight away.
“I think there are too many characteristics that you have to take into account. It’s not like ‘Okay, he’s the right man’. He definitely has good ideas. Would that work with Arsenal in the long run? We shall see. Hopefully, this season can start with better expectations and better results,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Gunners are heading to the United States to battle in the Florida Cup, starting against Inter Milan next week Monday.
