Former Manchester United defender Rafael says David Moyes was not suited to lead the club.
Rafael who is currently in the books of Turkish side Istanbul Basaksehir in an interview with The Mirror admitted that every single move the current West Ham boss made at the club turned out to be a mistake.
“When he (Moyes) came to United, you could say he made decisions that many managers would make at a new club – but every single one of them turned out to be a mistake.
“David has complained that he wasn’t given a fair chance. I am inclined to agree but I have to add that I still didn’t think he would have been the right man to manage Manchester United over a longer period.
“His Everton team was not renowned for playing beautiful football. His attacking style was very old-fashioned and typically British with the big striker and long balls. That style wasn’t compatible with United. It isn’t natural,” Rafael said.
United was defending champions when Moyes arrived at Old Trafford after a decade at Everton but he didn’t last long at the club as he was sacked even before he could finish his first season.
Rafael: “I have nothing bad to say about David. I speak badly about some people, like Van Gaal. I don’t like Van Gaal. But Moyes was not like Van Gaal. The problem was that everyone world thought Moyes was going to be the same coach as Ferguson. ” #MUFC pic.twitter.com/El1GPB4oih
